What's it all about?

Boardgame Babylon is a podcast about designer board games. The show features session reviews, "Rectangular Table Discussions" with guests and themed shows on subjects of interest to players of euro/designer/strategy games. Your host, E.R. Burgess, is a longtime writer, game player and 'redesigner' of board games who will occasionally veer off on tangents about his other passions: literature, film and music.

Here they are - games I like despite the fact that they aren't so great by modern Euro-game standards. I haven't played any of them recently but I still want to talk about them. Two of them are hard to find, but one of them can be bought at the grocer. This is indeed part one, as I've got a longer list that I will get to soon.

Thanks for the recent feedback. Please keep it coming! It is always good to hear from folks who are enjoying the show.

Next up: Back to more modern games in a Session Review show.

Although I'm firmly in the camp that prefers face-to-face gaming to the online board game experience, it can still be fun when you can't get together with friends. You can find me on BSW and Spiel by Web under the name: sheylon.

Also, Skype has become a good part of increasing the interaction while playing BSW. You can find me on Skype with the name Boardgamebabylon. If you catch me online, please say ‘hello’ or challenge me to a game!

Here is another session review with some games my wife Christina and I played with our friends Clark and Lisa. We played two new ones (new to us) – Reiner Knizia’s Tutankhamen, Wolfgang Kramer and Michael Kiesling’s Evergreen and Alan Moon’s original Ticket to Ride, which just gets a brief mention.

Show notes

Thanks for all the recent feedback. Lots of nice comments on the Caylus show – it is all much appreciated. Anything further can be sent to: sheylon@gmail.com.
